About Arno Declercq
Arno Declercq developed a passion for design and craftsmanship at an early age. Raised by passionate parents, he has been collecting tribal arts for over 20 years and is fascinated by the African continent. Always thanks to his education and environment, his aestheticism is close to that of the designers of the Ecole de la Cambre by the treatment of minimalism, brutalism and the requirement of precious know-how. Arno Declercq created his eponymous brand in 2017.
An ancestral know-how
Each piece (Zoumey armchair, Hallway table, AD bench...) is handmade by Arno Declercq. Inspired by his many trips to West Africa, he mainly uses African wood "king of the forest" (iroko), loaded with many traditions and tribal beliefs. Combined with Belgian oak and steel, he works the wood using the ancestral Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban (burnt wood), giving it a unique patina that is always black. His handcrafted creations, inspired by simple, geometric and raw forms, evoke modern totems with protective virtues.
